Using The Wii Fit And Other Wii Games To Stay In Shape

Many hundreds of thousands of people around the world who know about the benefits of staying in shape want to do so, yet lack the willpower to make themselves exercise on a regular basis. They invariably feel that exercise is too boring, too painful, too difficult, or something else along those lines.
A relatively large number of those people who don’t get enough exercise are gamers. Console and computer games involve simply sitting in one place and moving nothing but your eyes and your hands, so gamers easily become unfit and out of shape. In general, however, there are a great many people who simply feel as if they do not have the time or the energy to exercise and stay in shape.
The answer to this, really, is to make exercise fun somehow. That way, people will no longer feel as if it is such a chore, and they can keep in shape while having fun at the same time. Nintendo has come up with the perfect solution in the form of the Wii Fit and other Wii games.
The Nintendo Wii is the latest generation of gaming console from Nintendo, which finally departed from its long-standing tradition of consoles that featured so-called ‘button mashing’ games. These games involve sitting on the couch and playing games by pressing buttons on wired controllers. With Wii games, however, the method of gameplay is entirely different. Wii controllers are motion sensitive and can sense a player’s movements, so players must use these movements to control the Wii games. As a result, Wii games involve much more movement and action by players than games on any other gaming platform.
Nintendo designed the Wii Fit in particular to be both fun and a tool for helping people stay in shape and have fun at the same time. The Wii Fit consists of a board that is able to detect shifts in a player’s weight. This means that a player controls games by simply standing on the board and leaning in different directions. One game, for example, involves a sort of dodgeball, where players must dodge incoming balls. In order to do so, a player simply needs to lean to the side, away from the path of the oncoming ball, thus avoiding it. While this may seem overly simple, it can be extremely tiring, especially since many games for the Wii Fit involve constantly leaning this way and that.
Besides the Wii Fit, other Wii games are also excellent for helping people stay in shape. The Wii Sports games, for example, require players to stand and swing their controllers around as if they were swinging tennis rackets or golf clubs, or even pretending to be punching the lights out of someone in a boxing game. While they may not seem to provide very much exercise, these games that get players on their feet and moving about contribute a great deal to helping gamers keep fit and stay in shape.
